The third grade classes have been learning about the muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems of the body. Today, they Dr. Adree Venatta, Richard Clapp, and Holly Ordner visited the classes to talk about those body systems!
Thanksgiving break begins next week! School will dismiss at 2:09 on Tuesday, November 26. There is no school from November 27-29. School will resume on Monday, December 2. We hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving!
Mrs. Smyser's third grade students completed a science activity where they looked at cucumbers, potatoes, tomatoes, and celery to determine whether they were a "science fruit" or a "science vegetable."
Did you know that $1 provides six meals for a family in need? Over the next two weeks, the Cumberland Middle School Student Council is raising money to support the local food bank and the Student Council support fund. To do this, they are sponsoring two hat days on Friday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 26. Students need to donate $1 on each hat day in order to wear a hat. Money donations will be collected until next Tuesday.
Picture Retake Day is Monday, November 25. This day is for students who need to be re-photographed and students who missed the original Picture Day. If you are getting retakes, send the original picture package, including the envelope and pictures, to school on Retake Day. For those who have not ordered, use the link below to place your order.

The second grade classes completed a Greek STEM day yesterday! The students were given materials to complete tasks to simulate what the Greek gods and goddesses had to.
The book fair is coming! Books will be available to purchase Monday, November 11 - Friday, November 15. Elementary students may bring money with them on their library day, and
middle school students can shop during homeroom or during 8th hour. The book fair will be open to families after the Veterans Day program on Monday, Nov. 11, from 11 AM - 3:30 PM.
An e-wallet option is available that allows you to load money to an online account so students do not have to handle money. Use the QR code to set up an e-wallet or order books online to have them shipped directly to you!

There were many elementary students dressed up as their favorite book character today! Classrooms hosted Halloween parties with games, treats, and fun with friends. Thank you to the parent volunteers! It was a fun day!

Mrs. Smyser's 3rd grade class has been learning about pollination. The students used pipe cleaner “bees” and coffee and cinnamon as “pollen” to pollinate their flowers!
Last Thursday, the four kindergarten classes celebrated their 50th day of school with a 50s party! The students drank root beer floats, had a bubble gum-blowing contest, played limbo, tried to hula hoop, and danced to many songs!
This week, the 2nd grade classes participated in the Olympic games to wrap up their Ancient Greek and Mythology reading unit. Each student competed in an event. The students had a blast cheering on their classmates!
On Thursday, October 31, the elementary and middle school students can dress as their favorite book characters. Students should be able to move easily in their costumes and should not have any props or masks that would cause a distraction. This is an optional activity.

Cumberland County 4-H delivered pumpkins to the elementary school this morning. 14 students with good behavior were randomly chosen to take the pumpkins home!
