The CHS Student Council held a costume contest today! Maddy Cutright won Best Costume, Nevaeh Peddycoart won Most Creative, and Jaxon Daugherty and Mikalah Belford won Best Group. Congratulations!

Cumberland CUSD #77 would like to invite our veterans and their families to join us for an all-school assembly on Monday, November 11 at 9:15 AM in the high school gym to honor those who have sacrificed so much for all of us. Rolls and coffee will be served to our visitors in the high school cafeteria beginning at 8:15 am. Cumberland will take on Tuscola in the first round of the playoffs on Friday, November 1, at 7 PM. Admission to this home game is $6 as set by the IHSA. Season passes cannot be used for playoff games. This game will not be livestreamed on HUDL TV per IHSA guidelines. Let's go Pirates!!

Mrs. Lee’s Algebra classes have been learning about like terms. The students got to prove that they knew the like terms by playing “combine like terms” UNO!

The Anatomy students completed tasks to discover their senses for their nervous system unit.

Cumberland High School raised $200 at their Pink Out game last week! These funds will go to individuals fighting breast cancer. Cumberland went on to defeat Villa Grove 2-1!

The Cumberland County Cross Country teams competed at the Robinson Regional on Saturday. The boys placed 1st! This was the first time since 2007! The boys were led by Cameron Roedl, Regional champion, with a time of 15:54! The teams will compete at Sectionals next Saturday at 11 AM at Lake Land College! Good luck to all!

The first round football playoff game vs. Tuscola will be on Friday, November 1, at 7:00 PM at Pirate Field. Go Pirates!

The HS girls volleyball regional will be held at Newton High School. Cumberland plays Teutopolis on Monday, October 28, at 7 PM. Admission is set by the IHSA at $6.

Math Applications visited the Neal Center YMCA today to test their cardboard boat. While unsuccessful, the experience gave them ideas for improving their design and the determination and excitement to try again. As a student said, "Failure is part of the learning process." Thank you to the Neal Center YMCA for allowing our students to test their ideas in your facility.

The Volley for the Cure game is set for tomorrow, October 24, at 6 PM. We hope to see you there!

Mrs. Gibson's ecology class learned about GPS and GIS for their biodiversity lesson. Today, they tried geocaching, which uses GPS to find treasures.

Family Registration for One Stop Community Christmas 2024 will open on Wednesday, November 6 at 10:00 AM. Registration will close Friday, November 8, at 11:59 PM. If the maximum family count is reached before then, registration will close early. Family registration will be ONLINE only at: onestopcommunitychristmas.com The day of OSCC (Saturday, December 14, 2024), the parent/guardian will need to bring a photo ID and each child's (Newborn to 18 only) social security card to the event held at Lake Land Community College. Ms. Steber's physical science classes have been preparing for their end of topic test. They created graphic organizers to help with their revision. These student samples showed a lot of key information and some great visuals to help them remember the points. Great work!

The Cumberland County Cross Country team participated in the Trojan Invite in Charleston last weekend. The boys finished third out of 17 teams. Eight boys earned trophies by finishing in the top 50. The teams start the postseason on Saturday at the Robinson Regional. The girls race at 10 A.M, and the boys start at 11 AM.
